Chambray Capris with McCalls 7726

9/28/18

It's been a hot minute since I've posted on here, the summer sure did fly by! While I didn't make that many new makes, I was able to motivate myself to finish projects that had been sitting on my sewing table that were already cut out. One of these was the high waisted pants/short pattern McCalls 7726.

Tied Blouse with Simplicity 8601

4/15/18

I've been on a mini sewing hiatus due to a new part-time job, but I can't complain because my new gig is fun, easy and I'm earning some money! Yay! The downside is I don't have as much time to sew. In the evening, if I'm not working it's been difficult to find the motivation to sew or just taking some photos of my new makes. I am happy to share this recently "me-made" top using Simplicity 8601.

Two Sweatshirts with McCall's 7688

2/10/18

Today I'm sharing two comfy sweatshirt looks using McCall's pattern 7688, which is a new pattern they come out with this season.  These were super easy to sew up and this winter here in Texas has been perfect to wear these two looks.  I'll share with you the two different ways that I sewed these up.  First, the fabric for both is French terry and were purchased on GirlCharlee.com.  The fabric was very easy to work with, they have the perfect stretch and are so soft.

My Birthday Dress With Simplicity 8414

1/27/18

I'm so excited to share my "me made" dress today, which is this Cynthia Rowley pleated dress Simplicity 8414!  This is a popular pattern that I saw all over Instagram in various peoples pattern hauls as soon it was released.  I decided to pick it up too on a pattern sale.  The details looked intricate and I couldn't really wrap my head around what was involved.  But I decided to go for it because I loved the shape and style of this dress.

Cozy Cardigan With McCall's 7476

1/16/18

It's 27 degrees here in Austin right now which means the entire city has shut down.  Which is fine with me because I get to put a log in the fire place and update my blog, hopefully get some sewing done too.  Today I am showing off this easy to make cardigan.  What inspired me first to make this was the fabric.

Southwest Chic With Butterick 6486

1/8/18

Holy moly!!  When I came here to write this blog post, I realized that I didn't post anything in December!  Well, that just shows how fast that month flew by for me.  Not only was it busy with getting ready for the holidays but my birthday is very close to Christmas and I worked on my birthday dress for most of the month.  I can't wait to show it off here, which will be very soon.  In the mean time, I'm here talk about this pretty top I made back in November.  It's this beautiful terracotta color and a Southwestern style design by Art Gallery Fabrics.

Dark Denim Tunic

11/30/17

It's great writing a post here after a nice Thanksgiving break.  I didn't get a whole of sewing done over the break but did you see my #memade top that I posted on my Instagram?  I just love how it turned out and will be posting about it here very soon.  Anyway, on to this great chambray tunic that I sewed up for the fall.

Fall Floral Knit Tunic

11/18/17

I just love making all types of cold weather clothes lately, however I just wish it would stay cold long enough here in Austin so I can wear them!  Well, as I'm sewing all these pretty new fall/winter makes, I am trying to keep in mind layers!  Yes, since the weather here is so up and down I want to try to be able to have things that would work with or without a jacket, wearing something underneath or have it look cute with a light layer over it.  Plus comfort is always key.

Red Flutter Sleeve Top

11/3/17

I think I'm all recovered from the Halloween candy, allergies and rain we've had this week.  So I'm ready to share this beautiful Chalk and Notch pattern that I made a few weeks ago.  This pattern is called the Farrah Blouse and Dress, I made the blouse version so I could pair it with long pants during the cooler months.  I plan to make the dress version in the spring.  I love how this top turned out.

The Perfect Fall Denim Skirt

10/19/17

The weather has finally turned here in Austin and I'm finally getting to take out some of my cooler weather makes.  This front button midi denim skirt was one of my first Mimi G makes, you can see my original post about it here.  As I was going through my closet recently I saw this skirt and immediately thought of fall time.  This skirt is perfect for fall season because

Blue Rose Peplum Top

10/12/17

I've got one more summer make to share before it actually starts to stay cold here in Texas (and yes I'm still wearing my summer makes).  This one is New Look 6511 with four different adorable views.  I decided to go with view B and I cut out size 12.  Even though this pattern is simple in construction,

My Favorite Summer Makes

10/4/17

Looking back on all that I sewed up this summer just made me smile.  I made everything that I had hoped and as each project was completed I came away with a new skill.  It's a little difficult to pick favorites,

Off The Shoulder Seersucker Top

9/23/17

I am excited to finally share this adorable top that I made over the summer.  I posted about it on my Instagram feed while I was planning some summer makes and it got many comments about how cute it was.  To be honest, I would have never chosen this top for myself.  It seemed a bit fussy with the bow, buttons and shoulder straps.

DIY: Easy Knit Dress

9/12/17

I'm wrapping up all of my summer sewing projects and looking ahead to the fall.  The fall in Austin will stay pretty hot up until November, so I have a few more summer makes to share.  This New Look 6936 got my attention while browsing around at Joann's.  What I loved most about it was

Geo Black Tank

9/2/17

I've got a quick post for you all.  It's the holiday weekend and I'm trying to get a little relaxing in (whatever I can get with two little boys bouncing around me).  And of course some sewing too.  This top is a repeat and I'm so happy with the results the second time around.

High Low Midi Skirt

8/23/17

During the hot summer mouths here in Texas, my usual go-to outfit are shorts and a shirt.  So easy to wear and keeps me cool, right?  Well at the beginning of the summer I told myself I would try to incorporate more dresses and skirts. Hopefully I would feel just as comfortable and cool as I did in shorts.  And maybe look a little cuter too??

Easy To Sew: Shorts & Skirt

8/12/17

A few words that I am always keeping my eyes peeled when looking for patterns: easy to sew.  Yasss!  Especially when it comes to bottoms, like skirts and shorts.  Now skirts in general can be fairly easy to sew, especially when using an elastic waist.  This is what drew me to Simplicity 2258.  I also loved the details for each of the views - like cuffs for shorts, waist bows for the skirts and ties for the capri pants.  Too cute!

Fall Pattern Haul

8/3/17

I finally caught one of Joann's pattern sales last weekend and picked up these Butterick patterns for $1.99 each. These are all from their new Fall catalog.  I was looking for easy, casual tops for the fall. Tops that I can wears with jeans or leggings. I also bought a cargo vest and also a pair of mustard color jeans that I'd love to pair with a handmade top.  I still have a couple more summer tops to finish up before these. I gotta keep my summer wardrobe going through at least October here in Texas.

Geometric Romper

7/27/17

The weather has been highs in the 100s here in Austin for the last couple of weeks so I've been trying to get in some pool time and also lounging in A/C.  I've also been cutting fabric and sewing away lately, which has been nice. Today I have my review of Simplicity 8333, and what a perfect piece to wear in this crazy heat!  It's easy to wear and made in a comfy cotton jersey knit.  The fabric was purchased from Girl Charlee sometime this past spring.

Black & White Linen Dress

7/20/17

This summer I've been remaking many garments that I made last year when I first started sewing my own clothes.  I picked up easy sewing patterns from the "Learning To Sew" series that Simplicity has, like this Simplicity 2147 dress.  Many of these pieces that I sewed needed major tweaks and I learned something new about sewing with each one.
